Science: a pilot study, the medical use of cannabis
not affect the results of treatment for substance abuse

has investigated the effects of medical use of cannabis in the
result of treatment for abuse of
substances in a pilot study conducted in California. Of the members,
raised a public program for substance abuse treatment in California
, 13 medical cannabis and 146 no.
all medical cannabis users were included in the
treatment program for substance abuse
judicial order and had received permission to use cannabis for therapeutic purposes
while in the program.

The researchers note that although
preliminary given the small sample size, the study "shows that
issues concerning the relationship between the consumption of marijuana
and participation in a drug treatment
can be systematically evaluated. "
cannabis consumption among those using it for medicinal purposes
not seem to compromise a substance abuse treatment. I
was equal to or better than non-medical cannabis users
on the results of several important variables, such as
compliance and participation in the judicial system
. The authors concluded that their
pilot study suggests that the medical use of cannabis is compatible with the
participation in treatment programs for abandoning
drugs and does not adversely affect its results "and that" medical marijuana
may be justified in treating addictions
as a harm reduction tool. "
